Support Staff

We are blessed at First Baptist Church to have a tremendous support staff.  They are as much ministers as us “professional” guys.  I wanted to share a few stories with you.  We were in staff meeting praying Monday, and K fielded a call.  It was a man that was asking for the prison.  Sometimes our numbers get mixed up because they are so similiar.  Kind of ironic isn’t!  At any rate, he called right back and said it wasn’t a mistake that he called earlier.  He said that he was struggling and trying to get his life on track.  He was going to the jail during the weekend to serve out his sentence.  He wasn’t asking for money; he was asking for prayer.  So K said, “Would you like for me to pray with you right now.”  She then prayed for him.  I was blown away.  That’s awesome that our administrative assistants are willing to pray for people.

Angie took over the newsletter after Dianne Fischer moved to Aiken.  She did it without a hesitation and jumped right in this week in getting it done.  She is also the first face that people see and is always pleasant to those who come in.  She had the opportunity to talk to a psychic the other day and kept me from having to talk to them!

Ann is daily managing a 1,000,000 + budget with multiple people spending money.  On top of that she also fields questions from church members and assists me in personelle policies and financial reports.

Our custodial staff is so much more than just maintenance.  This past weekend Sue was decorating tables for a wedding party.  She even went home and got her own ferns and set the tables.  Did she have to do this?  No.  All she had to do was open the door and clean up after the party.  She took it upon herself to go above and beyond.  I have never heard Dianna complain to me.  She consistently does her job and makes it possible for ministry to happen at the merge.  Phil is out new comer.  He has done a great job stepping in upon Sandy’s retirement.  The lawns look great and he has been assisting Tori in the CDC to make sure it is ready for operation August 30.

Next time you see them around our church, let them know you appreciate their hard work.  They are ministering on a daily basis here at FBC.
